GED Testing

Southern Crescent Technical College provides testing services for the General Educational Development (GED ®) Test at GED Testing Centers located in Griffin and Thomaston. The credential is nationally recognized and accepted by most U.S. employers, colleges, and universities as the equivalent of a high school diploma.

GED GraduationThe GED examination is administered on a scheduled basis at the Griffin and Flint River campuses. Information concerning the required advanced registration may be obtained by calling the Griffin Campus at (770) 229-3176 or the Flint River Campus at (706) 646-6121.

There are five sections on the test. The cost is $19.00 per section, or $95.00 for the entire test. Test fees are non-refundable. Eligibility is determined at the time of the appointment. The following requirements must be met:

  • Applicants must be 18 years of age or older. Applicants 18 or 19 years of age must present a high school withdrawal or a statement from the last school attended indicating that their class has graduated. Individuals may test at ages 16 and 17 with special permission. Information concerning testing before the age of 18 may be picked up at the Griffin or Flint River Campus Adult Education office.
  • Applicants must provide a valid State issued photo I.D. (i.e., driver's license, State I.D. card, military ID, or Passport). Student I.D. cards are not acceptable forms of identification.
  • Applicants must provide verification of social security number (i.e., social security card or check stub or other document containing name and social security number).
  • Applicants may call or visit the Griffin or Flint River Campus Adult Education office for registration information. Registration must be completed in advance of testing.
  • Payment is mandatory at the time of registration. GED examinees must pay $95 for the complete GED Test or $19 for an individual test. Contact each campus for information on types of payment accepted.

Missed appointments will only be rescheduled if the request is submitted in writing within 3 days and includes documentation of the emergency.
