Graduates were all smiles on Monday, May 13, 2019 as Southern Crescent Technical College students celebrated their graduation during two commencement ceremonies held at First Assembly of God Church in Griffin.
This year, over 500 students completed requirements for diplomas or degrees from Southern Crescent Technical College with just over 300 graduates choosing to participate in Monday’s ceremony. All students were recognized for their achievements with words of encouragement from President, Dr. Alvetta Thomas. “We are so proud of what our students have accomplished,” said Dr. Alvetta Thomas, president of Southern Crescent Technical College. “We genuinely want our students to succeed, and we are confident that Southern Crescent Technical College has provided them with the skills and education they need to launch successful careers and build productive lives.”
Delivering the commencement address for the morning ceremony was Kelly Browning, SCTC Early Childhood Care and Education student and Georgia Occupational Award of Leadership recipient. SCTC Rick Perkins Award recipient Chris Patterson was the keynote speaker at the afternoon ceremony. Both delivered a heartfelt charge to graduates and congratulated them, challenging them to continue on their path of success and offered them words of support as they continue to achieve success in both their personal and professional life.
The graduation ceremony was certainly a time for celebration as students were rewarded for both their achievements and sacrifices in their pursuit of educational goals and dreams. The graduates have worked diligently for this great accomplishment and should be commended for their dedication to education.
