Congratulations to 2016 LPN graduate Alyssa Dobson on being awarded the 2019 Classified Employee of the Year School Nurse for the Griffin-Spalding County School System (GSCS).
This is the first year that the school system has presented a school nurse of the year award. The award was designed to acknowledge a school nurse who exemplifies the GSCS values and commitment to our students. She was nominated by her fellow nurses as well as the staff as Atkinson Elementary.
Licia Evans of the GSCS stated, "She came to work with us in March of 2018 and quickly became a beloved member of the Atkinson Elementary family. It is obvious to everyone at Atkinson how much she loves the students and the staff thinks the world of her. Her nursing skills are excellent and I sometimes find it hard to believe that she is a relatively "new" nurse. The other school nurses enjoy working with her because she is always willing to help out. She has a great work ethic and is certainly a team player. We are fortunate to have her as part of the GSCS school nurse family."
Kimberly Register, Dean for Allied Health at Southern Crescent Technical College said, “It is no surprise that Alyssa was given this award. She displayed the utmost compassion, competence, honesty and willingness to learn throughout the program. Alyssa was truly interested in her patients, and went above and beyond to promote comfort and a sense of well-being for both the patient and their family. She is a perfect example of a student whose life work was to embrace her strengths of compassion and hard work with the desire to make an impact in the world. Southern Crescent Technical College is incredibly proud of Alyssa, and we look forward to watching her grow and succeed in her nursing career.”
