As a sign of the continued partnership between Piedmont Henry and Southern Crescent Technical College (SCTC), the College has dedicated the Piedmont Healthcare Wing on the second floor of Building B at the SCTC Henry County Center. This dedication was made during the Tech Connect event held on October 24, 2019 at the College.
These two institutions have benefitted from a longstanding and productive partnership to educate and train healthcare professionals in our region. As a result of this partnership, Piedmont Henry made a significant investment of $100,000 to the Southern Crescent Technical College Foundation (SCTCF) to name the Piedmont Healthcare Wing at the SCTC Henry County Center. Deborah Armstrong, CEO of Piedmont Henry, was on hand for this dedication at the Tech Connect event, the inaugural Henry County fundraising event for the Southern Crescent Technical College Foundation.
As a result of this donation and a commitment of future support, the SCTCF and the SCTC Board of Directors approved the naming of the Piedmont Healthcare Wing. The Piedmont Henry name and logo have been placed in the center of the healthcare hub of the building between the Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) classroom and the Cardiovascular Technology classroom. In addition to the ASN Program and the Cardiovascular Program, SCTC also offers Nurse Aide, Phlebotomy, Computed Tomography Specialist, and Magnetic Resonance Imaging Specialist in Henry County.
According to CEO Deborah Armstrong, “Piedmont Healthcare is proud of our partnership with Southern Crescent Technical College, and it is our hope that our support can help strengthen this incredible program. Piedmont’s purpose is to make a positive difference in every life we touch. The students that graduate from their allied health programs are ready to fulfill that promise and become the next generation of Piedmont Healthcare employees.”
Dr. Alvetta P. Thomas, President of Southern Crescent Technical College, stated, “Southern Crescent Technical College and Piedmont Healthcare are committed to strengthening our partnership and expanding the allied health training programs that are vital to the success of today’s healthcare environment. This commitment and donation from Piedmont Henry will ensure that these healthcare programs and these graduates will continue to be a valuable asset to the healthcare community in Henry County as SCTC continues to work to build strong students, strong careers, and strong communities.”
