At the June 21st meeting of the Southern Crescent Technical College (SCTC) Board of Directors, President Dr. Alvetta Thomas recognized Scott Swafford at his last meeting for his twelve years of faithful service to the College. Swafford has served on the board for the past nine years and as chair for the last two years. Prior to serving on the SCTC Board of Directors, he served on the Flint River Technical College Board of Directors and Board of Trustees.
“I have enjoyed serving the College both on the Board of Trustees and the Board of Directors. I look forward to staying involved at some level and will always be a champion for Southern Crescent Technical College. This College does great things in all of our communities by training graduates to meet the workforce needs of local business and industry.”
Swafford continued as he expressed his gratitude to the other board members of SCTC for their efforts to become “one college” after the merger and for their role in creating opportunities for the citizens we serve.
Dr. Thomas stated, “We cannot thank Scott enough for his steadfast support of Southern Crescent Technical College in the community. He has been a diligent servant, a strong leader and was pivotal in the success of the merger between Flint River Technical College and Griffin Technical College. I know that I can call on Scott at any time and he will always be ready and willing to assist.”
For his service and support, Swafford was presented a plaque from the College, a plaque from the Technical College Directors Association and a clock machined by students in the Machine Tool Technology program and painted by the students in the Auto Collision Repair programs at Southern Crescent Technical College.
Scott serves as the Chief Operating Officer of United Bank and represented Upson County on the Southern Crescent Technical College Board of Directors.
The Southern Crescent Technical College Board of Directors serves both in a community advisory capacity and in a limited administrative capacity, performing certain oversight responsibilities as designated by State Board policy.
