The Military Times recently ranked Southern Crescent Technical College as the No. 19 career and technical college for veterans in the U.S., according to the publication’s 2020 rankings.

The Best for Vets: Colleges 2020 rankings surveyed hundreds of colleges’ policies related to military and veteran students, academic outcomes, military-supportive cultures and other factors to form rankings to help veterans find the best place to put their tuition assistance dollars to use.

The ranking listed Southern Crescent Technical College nineteenth among career and technical colleges in the United States for academic support and mental health programs it offers to veterans.

“Southern Crescent Technical College is honored to be named one of the top colleges in the nation for Veterans,” said Dr. Alvetta Thomas, President of Southern Crescent Technical College. “Our Office of Veterans Affairs has worked diligently in recent years to remove any barriers veterans and service members may face while enrolling in college, activating their GI Bill, and attending classes.”

Southern Crescent Technical College offers services to veterans to assist in removing any obstacles they may face while obtaining their education. Services include: assistance with GI Bill certification, a dedicated computer lab, a Veterans Center, a dedicated Veterans Affairs Coordinator, and a student veterans organization.

Thomas continued, “At Southern Crescent Technical College, we are committed to seeing that our veterans are treated with dignity and respect, and that they know that we are not only willing and able but eager to help them through the process of completing their education.  We have many programs that are attractive to vets, and we hope to see that those who have served have as good an experience here as they can have anywhere in the country.  I want our veterans to know they are welcome at Southern Crescent Technical College and that we are here to assist them.”
