Southern Crescent Technical College student Brian Weston was selected by an external panel of judges to serve as officer for Georgia Student Government Association (GSGA) during the Technical College System of Georgia State Student Organizations and Planning Committees retreat held recently at the Unicoi State Park and Lodge in Helen, GA.
Brian is an Orthopaedics Technology student and serves as SCTC Student Government Association (SGA) President on the Flint River Campus. He was recently named State Parliamentarian for GSGA during a state officers retreat in Helen for SkillsUSA, Phi Beta Lambda, National Technical Honor Society, and GSGA student organizations.
Also attending and representing SCTC at the state level were Cherryl C. Burks, Director of Student Support Services, who will serve as State Executive Director and Mia Collier, Move On When Ready Coordinator, who will serve as a State Officers Advisor for Georgia Student Government Association. Kim Yevick is on the planning committee for Phi Beta Lambda and Diana Kendrick serves on the SkillsUSA planning committee.
This retreat is held annually for all students that were recently elected as State Officers for their organization. The three day conference consists of StrengthsQuest Assessment, leadership training, business etiquette, teambuilding activities, group projects, panel interviews, position selections and final presentation of their plan of work.
