Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act (WIOA) is a federally funded program which assists unemployed or underemployed individuals with accessing employment, education, training, and support services needed to re-enter the workforce.

Students at Southern Crescent Technical College may qualify for financial assistance associated with educational and training related costs.

Students should see a WIOA Coordinator if they need assistance paying for the costs of their training at Southern Crescent Technical College. Covered costs may include tuition, admission fees, books, supplies, uniforms, and other required items. Students approved for WIOA training services may also receive a daily travel allowance to assist with the cost of gas/transportation as well as financial assistance with the costs of childcare while attending an approved training program.

After completion of training, WIOA students can receive individualized career counseling, resume preparation, job search assistance and other services to aid them in obtaining employment.

The WIOA Coordinator will determine a student’s potential eligibility for WIOA assistance. If referred for WIOA services, the student will begin the approval process which includes orientation, intake and assessments to determine interests, aptitudes and abilities.
