Jackson, GA — Southern Crescent Technical College proudly congratulates the Henderson Middle School Robotics Team on earning an impressive 9th place finish at their recent VEX Robotics Competition.
Through its ongoing commitment to STEM outreach and workforce development, Southern Crescent Technical College supports students as they explore careers in engineering, robotics, automation, and advanced manufacturing. Participation in VEX Robotics provides students with hands-on experience in engineering design, coding, teamwork, and real-world problem solving—skills that directly align with today’s high-demand technical careers.
“Programs like VEX Robotics are critical to building the future workforce,” said Eleen Herbert, Dean of Technical, Industrial & Film at Southern Crescent Technical College. “These students are gaining early exposure to the same technical and collaborative skills used in advanced manufacturing and automation careers. We are incredibly proud of their hard work, creativity, and determination.”
Southern Crescent Technical College works closely with K–12 partners and industry leaders to strengthen the talent pipeline and expose students to career pathways at an early age. These partnerships help students connect classroom learning to real-world applications and future workforce opportunities.
“Early engagement in STEM programs like VEX Robotics helps students see what’s possible for their future and for our region,” said Richard Andrews, Vice President of Economic Development at Southern Crescent Technical College. “These experiences build a strong talent pipeline by aligning education with workforce needs and preparing students for high-demand careers that drive economic growth.”
The College also extends sincere appreciation to its generous industry partners, Procter & Gamble and Amazon, whose support through funding, equipment, student lunches, and team shirts helped make these opportunities possible.
Southern Crescent Technical College is excited to celebrate the achievements of these talented students and looks forward to continuing its work to inspire the next generation of engineers, coders, and problem solvers.
