MCDONOUGH, Ga. — Southern Crescent Technical College (SCTC) recently welcomed representatives from Coca-Cola to the College’s Henry Center for an engaging day of learning, networking, and career exploration with students in the Diesel Equipment Technology program.

During the visit, students learned about Coca-Cola’s company history, diesel fleet operations, and current career opportunities for Fleet Mechanics. Students also had the opportunity to connect directly with Coca-Cola industry professionals and leadership team members, gaining valuable insight into the skills, experience, and expectations needed to succeed in the diesel and fleet maintenance industry.

Industry engagement is an important component of SCTC’s commitment to preparing students for successful careers. Opportunities to interact directly with employers help students connect their classroom and hands-on training to real-world careers while learning more about the employment opportunities available within their field.

“We are grateful to Coca-Cola for taking the time to engage directly with our students and introduce them to career opportunities within their organization,” said Dr. Irvin Clark, President of Southern Crescent Technical College. “Partnerships with industry are essential to developing a strong workforce pipeline. When our students can hear directly from employers about the skills they are seeking, it strengthens the connection between education and employment and helps prepare our graduates for success.”

“Experiences like this are incredibly valuable for our students because they allow them to see how the skills they are developing in the classroom and lab translate directly into the workplace,” said Eleen Herbert, Dean of Technical, Industrial, and Film Programs at Southern Crescent Technical College. “We appreciate Coca-Cola’s willingness to engage with our students, share their industry expertise, and introduce them to career opportunities in fleet maintenance. These connections help our students better understand what employers are looking for and the many career paths available to them after graduation.”

SCTC looks forward to continuing to grow its relationship with Coca-Cola and creating additional opportunities that connect students with employers and high-demand careers.
