Flint Energies Donates to SCTC Foundation for GED Scholarships

Date Posted: February 17, 2026

The Southern Crescent Technical College (SCTC) Foundation recently received a $2,820 grant from the Flint Energies Foundation to support adult education students working to earn their GED.

“Supporting adult education has long been part of our commitment to the communities we serve,” said Marian McLemore, Vice President of Cooperative Communications for Flint Energies. “As the cost of college and everyday living continues to rise, we hope this scholarship program helps local students take the next step toward achieving their goals.”

Flint Energies provides scholarships to students who live within the cooperative’s service area. This contribution was made possible through unclaimed capital credits generated by former consumer-members. As an electric cooperative operating at cost, Flint Energies returns excess revenues to members in the form of capital credits. When former members cannot be located, those funds are considered abandoned after six years and are reinvested to support education, economic development, and nonprofit organizations throughout the cooperative’s service territory.

“We are grateful for our strong partnership with the Flint Energies Foundation,” said Montrese Adger Fuller, Vice President of Institutional Advancement at Southern Crescent Technical College. “This generous investment strengthens our ability to support adult education students and helps them move closer to completing their GED and advancing their future.”

The GED scholarships will be administered through SCTC’s Adult Education division. Students interested in applying should contact the Adult Education office for more information.

Adult education classes and services are available across the eight counties served by SCTC. To learn more about the GED program, contact the Adult Education office nearest you or visit www.sctech.edu.
