GRIFFIN, Ga. — Southern Crescent Technical College proudly celebrated 30 members of the Class of 2026 during its Dundee Promise Signing Day on June 23, welcoming the newest cohort of Dundee Promise Scholars as they officially committed to begin their college journey this fall.
The scholars represent six counties across the Southern Crescent region, including Butts, Fayette, Henry, Lamar, Pike, and Spalding. Students were joined by their families, who gathered to celebrate this significant milestone alongside college leadership, faculty, and staff. The ceremony recognized each scholar’s commitment to pursuing higher education and the exciting opportunities that await them this fall at SCTC.
The Dundee Promise Scholarship removes financial barriers by covering tuition and mandatory fees after applicable federal and state financial aid, allowing eligible students to pursue a college education and prepare for high-demand careers without the burden of tuition costs.
Southern Crescent Technical College President Dr. Irvin T. Clark welcomed the students and their families, highlighting the life-changing opportunities made possible through the Dundee Promise Program.
“Today marks the beginning of an exciting journey for these students,” said Clark. “We are deeply grateful to the Dundee Community Association for its extraordinary generosity and vision in making the Dundee Promise Program possible. Their investment is transforming lives by opening the door to higher education for students across our region. The Dundee Promise is more than a scholarship. It is an investment in our students, our communities, and the future workforce of Georgia. We are honored that these scholars have chosen Southern Crescent Technical College, and we are committed to supporting them every step of the way as they pursue their educational and career goals.”
Dr. Tonya Whitlock, Vice President for Enrollment Management, encouraged the scholars to embrace every opportunity available to them during their time at SCTC. “This scholarship opens the door, but what you do with the opportunity is entirely up to you,” Whitlock said. “Take advantage of the resources, support services, and relationships that await you at SCTC. Get involved, ask questions, and challenge yourself. We are excited to watch each of you succeed.”
Montrese Adger Fuller, Vice President for Institutional Advancement, expressed appreciation to the Dundee Community Association for its lasting investment in Southern Crescent Technical College and its students. “The Dundee Promise represents the power of philanthropy to transform lives,” Fuller said. “Because of the generosity and vision of the Dundee Community Association, these students can pursue a college education with fewer financial barriers and focus on achieving their academic and career goals. This investment will have a lasting impact on our students, their families, and the communities we serve.”
During the program, each scholar participated in an official signing ceremony, symbolizing their commitment to becoming SCTC Tigers this fall. Family members proudly stood alongside the students as they signed commemorative certificates, celebrating this important milestone together. The event concluded with photographs and a reception, providing an opportunity for students, families, and college leaders to commemorate the beginning of the scholars’ college journey.
The Dundee Promise Program continues to expand educational opportunities for recent high school graduates while supporting workforce development throughout Southern Crescent Technical College’s service area. By removing financial barriers and connecting students to high-quality technical education, the program helps prepare graduates for in-demand careers that strengthen local communities and industries.

About the Dundee Promise Program
The Dundee Promise Program was established through a generous gift from the Dundee Community Association (DCA) to the Southern Crescent Technical College Foundation. As part of its support, the DCA named the College’s main building on the Griffin Campus the Dundee Education Technology Center and provided funding to advance initiatives that enhance educational opportunities for students and strengthen the College’s mission.
The Dundee Community Association traces its roots to Dundee Mills, a textile manufacturer founded in Griffin in 1888. For more than a century, Dundee Mills—and later Springs Industries, which acquired the company in 1995—played a vital role in the economic growth of the Griffin community by operating multiple manufacturing facilities that produced bath towels and related products until operations concluded in 2009.
Founded in the 1940s, the Dundee Community Association was created to support Dundee Mills employees and the surrounding community. Throughout its history, the organization has provided scholarships, charitable contributions, and financial support to numerous nonprofit organizations across Spalding County. The DCA has been a longtime partner of Southern Crescent Technical College, supporting educational initiatives, including the College’s Adult Education program, and now helping make higher education more accessible through the Dundee Promise Program.
