SCTC Empowers Future Agricultural Leaders Through Summer STEM and Agribusiness Camps

Date Posted: July 23, 2025

This summer, Southern Crescent Technical College (SCTC) hosted a dynamic series of STEM and Agribusiness Summer Camps, engaging students ages 11–16 in hands-on learning experiences that explored the exciting intersections of science, technology, and agriculture. Thanks to the generous support of Georgia Power, these programs opened doors for middle and high school students to gain real-world insights and skills in the growing agribusiness industry.

Held at SCTC’s Butts County Center (June 23–27), Flint River Campus (July 7–11), and UGA-Griffin, the camps introduced students to key concepts in agribusiness including production, processing, marketing, and distribution. Participants also explored advanced STEM topics such as biotechnology, sustainable farming practices, and innovative agricultural technology.

In addition to learning technical content, campers developed critical entrepreneurial skills like brainstorming innovative agribusiness ideas, drafting business plans, and practicing professional pitch presentations just like real-world entrepreneurs.

“These camps are about more than just education, they’re about empowerment,” said Vice President for Economic Development Richard Andrews. “We’re proud to invest in the next generation of agricultural innovators and leaders.”

Southern Crescent Technical College extends heartfelt thanks to Georgia Power for their continued investment in student success and workforce development in our region.
