SCTC Expands LPN/Paramedic to RN Bridge Program with Additional Cohorts in Butts and Jasper Counties

Date Posted: September 12, 2025

Southern Crescent Technical College (SCTC) is proud to announce the continued expansion of its highly successful LPN/Paramedic to RN Bridge Program, with two additional cohorts beginning in Spring 2026 at the Butts County and Jasper County Centers. This milestone further increases access to high-quality nursing education while helping address Georgia’s urgent need for skilled healthcare professionals in rural areas.

Launched in January 2024 at the Griffin and Fayette campuses with 50 students, the Bridge Program quickly grew to include Butts and Jasper counties in August 2025, adding another 50 students. With the launch of second cohorts in Spring 2026, total Bridge enrollment will rise to 150 students which is a 200% increase since the program’s start. By Fall 2026, SCTC expects more than 250 nursing students enrolled across six campuses in eight counties, including those in the Bridge, Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN), and Practical Nursing programs.

The Bridge Program offers an accelerated pathway for Licensed Practical Nurses (LPNs) and Paramedics with at least one year of field experience to earn their RN credential in just three semesters. Graduates complete the NCLEX exam through the Georgia Board of Nursing, with SCTC’s pass rates consistently surpassing state and national averages, reflecting the strength of its faculty and nursing programs.

“This expansion is a win for our students and our communities,” said Amy Adams, MSN, RN, Dean of Nursing at SCTC. “Growing up in a small, rural town, I’ve seen firsthand how much we need more skilled and caring nurses. As a proud SCTC graduate, educator, and nurse with over 20 years of experience, it’s incredibly rewarding to see our programs creating new opportunities for students in rural areas to become nurses. Watching them succeed and knowing I’m part of their journey is truly special.”

Kelly King, RN, Director of Nursing at Jasper Health Services, shared: “Quality education and healthcare are often two of the greatest needs in a rural area like Monticello. The work being done at Southern Crescent under the leadership of Dr. Clark is going to change not just the lives of these nursing students, but generations to come. We at Jasper Memorial Hospital are honored to take part in such an amazing opportunity.”

Dr. Irvin Clark, President of Southern Crescent Technical College, added: “The healthcare industry is one of the largest economic drivers in our region, and a well-prepared nursing workforce is essential to its growth. By expanding our Bridge Program into Butts and Jasper counties, we are not only creating opportunities for students but also strengthening the healthcare pipeline that supports hospitals, clinics, and long-term care providers across Georgia. This investment in education directly fuels workforce development, boosts local economies, and ensures that rural communities have the skilled professionals they need to thrive.”

Applications for SCTC’s nursing programs are accepted five times per year. Bridge Program application windows are May 1–31 for August start and October 1–31 for January start. Learn more and apply at https://www.sctech.edu/programs/allied-health-acceptance-dates/.

With each expansion, SCTC remains steadfast in its commitment to underserved communities, workforce development, and preparing the next generation of healthcare professionals to make a meaningful impact across the region.
