GRIFFIN, GA — August 14, 2026 — The Southern Crescent Technical College (SCTC) Foundation is proud to announce its Fall 2026 scholarship recipients. Through the generosity of individuals, families, businesses, community organizations, and friends of the College, the Foundation awarded scholarships to students pursuing their educational and career goals at Southern Crescent Technical College. The Foundation awarded 38 scholarships totaling $24,625.
The scholarships provide financial assistance for tuition, textbooks, tools, and other educational expenses while supporting students pursuing programs in healthcare, skilled trades, business, technology, and general studies.
Fall 2026 Scholarships and Recipients
Lespedeza Fund Tuition, Textbook and Toolbox Scholarship
The Lespedeza Fund Scholarship, honoring the memory of Mr. and Mrs. Russell Allen and Mr. and Mrs. Frank Johnson, is a $1,400 tuition, textbook, and toolbox need-based scholarship awarded to first-generation college students. The scholarship supports eligible students pursuing programs in Allied Health, Business Technology, Criminal Justice, Industrial Systems Technology, and Logistics and Supply Chain Management.
For Fall 2026, the SCTC Foundation awarded seven $1,400 scholarships totaling $9,800:
- Tanija Jones, Lamar County — Health Care Assistant TCC
- Krystal Harman, Spalding County — Health Care Management
- Stephanie Miller, Henry County — Radiologic Technology
- Samantha Cambron, Spalding County — NCCER Welding & Joining Technology
- Madra Cain, Clayton County — Health Care Management
- Sharell Broyard, Fayette County — Health Care Management
- Adriana Foster, Newton County — Health Care Management
NBRC Respiratory Scholarship
The NBRC Respiratory Scholarship provides financial assistance to students as they pursue education and training at SCTC. The scholarship helps reduce educational expenses while supporting students as they prepare to enter or advance in the workforce.
For Fall 2026, three $905 scholarships totaling $2,715 were awarded:
- Destiny Noel, Henry County — Respiratory Care
- Isabella Cormier, Henry County — Respiratory Care
- Shannon Boswell, Henry County — Respiratory Care
Griffin Utility Club ASN Tuition, Textbook and Toolbox Scholarship
The Griffin Utility Club ASN Tuition, Textbook and Toolbox Scholarship supports SCTC students pursuing nursing education. Scholarship funds help offset the cost of tuition, textbooks, tools, and other educational expenses associated with preparing for a career in nursing.
For Fall 2026, three $500 scholarships totaling $1,500 were awarded:
- Jerilynn Robinson, Spalding County — Nursing
- Alondra Padilla, Spalding County — Associate of Science in Nursing
- Taylor Jett, Spalding County — Nursing
Upson EMC Foundation Tuition Scholarship
The Upson EMC Foundation Tuition Scholarship provides tuition assistance to SCTC students and reflects the Foundation’s commitment to expanding educational opportunities and strengthening the workforce in the one of the five counties Upson EMC serves: Crawford, Pike, Meriwether, Talbot, and Upson.
For Fall 2026, three $250 scholarships totaling $750 were awarded:
- Des’monaa Green, Upson County — Practical Nursing
- Gavin Hammock, Upson County — Cosmetology
- Crystal Buffington, Upson County — Radiologic Technology
Tiger Campaign Textbook and Toolbox Scholarship
The Tiger Campaign Textbook and Toolbox Scholarship is made possible through contributions to SCTC’s annual internal Tiger Campaign. The scholarship provides assistance with textbooks, tools, supplies, and other educational expenses, demonstrating the commitment of SCTC employees and supporters to student success.
For Fall 2026, five $250 scholarships totaling $1,250 were awarded:
- Asia Whatley, Gwinnett County — Business Management
- Ansley Register, Spalding County — Associate of Science in General Studies
- Briana Dease, Butts County — Health Care Management
- Muhammad Sajid, Fayette County — Associate of Science in General Studies/Cybersecurity
- Shargail Ivey, Crawford County — Health Care Management
Tiger Campaign Team Hendrix Tuition Scholarship
Funded through SCTC’s Tiger Campaign, the Team Hendrix Tuition Scholarship provides tuition assistance to eligible students. The scholarship represents SCTC employees and supporters investing directly in students and helping reduce financial barriers to completing their education.
For Fall 2026, two $900 scholarships totaling $1,800 were awarded:
- Jeff Romeus, Henry County — Air Conditioning Technology/Carpentry
- Jessica Stephens, Paulding County — Associate of Science in General Studies

Funded through SCTC’s Tiger Campaign, the Tuition Scholarship provides tuition assistance to eligible students. The scholarship represents SCTC employees and supporters investing directly in students and helping reduce financial barriers to completing their education.
For Fall 2026, one $1,00 scholarships totaling $1,00 were awarded:
- Ricky Brown, Butts County
Tiger Campaign GED/Advancement-to-College Textbook and Toolbox Scholarship
The Tiger Campaign GED/Advancement-to-College Textbook and Toolbox Scholarship supports students who have continued their educational journey from GED or adult education pathways into college-level programs at SCTC. The scholarship assists with textbooks, tools, and other educational expenses as students take the next step in their education.
For Fall 2026, two $250 scholarships totaling $500 were awarded:
- Robert West, Houston County — LPN/Paramedic Bridge RN
- Victoria Crowe, Henry County — Cosmetology for Licensure
The Bowdoin Medical Scholarship
The Bowdoin Medical Scholarship provides financial assistance to an SCTC student pursuing education in a healthcare-related field. This scholarship is named in memory of Southern Crescent Technical College Foundation Chair Jack Bowdoin’s father and mother and his brother and sister-in-law.
For Fall 2026, Kirsten Slocumb, Clayton County, received a $500 scholarship. Slocumb is pursuing a Health Care Management degree.
The Bowdoin Industrial Arts Scholarship
The Bowdoin Industrial Arts Scholarship supports students pursuing education and training in industrial and skilled-trades programs. The scholarship helps students gain the technical knowledge and hands-on experience necessary to enter high-demand careers. This scholarship is named in memory of Southern Crescent Technical College Foundation Chair Jack Bowdoin’s father and mother and his brother and sister-in-law.
For Fall 2026, Marcus Ledbetter, Spalding County, received a $500 scholarship. Ledbetter is pursuing NCCER Welding & Joining Technology.
Schyla Avery Memorial Textbook and Toolbox Scholarship
Established in memory of Schyla Avery, this scholarship provides assistance with textbooks, tools, supplies, and other educational materials. The scholarship helps reduce expenses beyond tuition that can create financial barriers for students.
For Fall 2026, Isabella Cormier, Henry County, received a $250 scholarship. Cormier is pursuing Respiratory Care.
Dr. Alvetta P. and A.J. Thomas Tuition Scholarship
The Dr. Alvetta P. and A.J. Thomas Tuition Scholarship provides tuition assistance to support an SCTC student in continuing their education and working toward academic and career goals. Dr. Thomas was the President of Southern Crescent Technical College from 2016-2021, and throughout her professional career, she was a champion for students. By supporting the mission and vision of the College through workforce development, Dr. Thomas took pride in building strong students, strong careers, and strong communities.
For Fall 2026, Christy Crenshaw, Spalding County, received a $250 scholarship. Crenshaw is pursuing a Nursing degree.
Cooper Family Culinary Arts Tuition Scholarship
The Cooper Family Culinary Arts Tuition Scholarship supports students pursuing educational opportunities connected to Culinary Arts at SCTC. The scholarship helps offset tuition expenses while encouraging students to develop the skills necessary for careers in the culinary and hospitality industries.
For Fall 2026, Destinie Helms, Spalding County, received a $250 scholarship. Helms is pursuing studies in Business Management and Culinary Arts.
Justin Peeples Memorial Textbook and Toolbox CIS Scholarship
Established in memory of Justin Peeples, this scholarship provides financial assistance for textbooks, tools, and educational supplies for students pursuing technology-related education and career preparation at SCTC. Established in memory of Justin Peeples, a Computer Network Specialist student at the College. Justin died from injuries sustained in an automobile accident in 2011.
For Fall 2026, Shannon Shelton, Henry County, received a $250 scholarship. Shelton is pursuing a Business Technology degree.
Walker Cook Memorial Scholarship
The Walker Cook Memorial Scholarship was established in 2017 in memory of Walker Cook, a lifelong educator and former Griffin resident. Throughout his life, Cook was deeply committed to education and believed strongly that learning has the power to improve the quality of life for individuals, families, and communities. The scholarship continues his legacy by assisting an SCTC student in pursuing educational and career goals.
For Fall 2026, Kyle Kimpel, Coweta County, received a $250 scholarship. Kimpel is pursuing Radiologic Technology.
William R. and Sara Babb Smith Foundation Scholarship
The William R. and Sara Babb Smith Foundation Scholarship provides financial support to SCTC students pursuing education and career training. The scholarship reflects an investment in educational opportunity, student achievement, and the development of a skilled workforce. The Williams R. and Sara Beth Smith Foundation’s main focus is in the areas of education, youth development, and community service in Henry County.
For Fall 2026, Travauris Manley, Henry County, received a $500 scholarship. Manley is pursuing a Networking Specialist degree.
Yvonne Langford Medical Scholarship
The Yvonne Langford Medical Scholarship is a $500 tuition, textbook, or toolbox scholarship for a Spalding County resident. The scholarship honors Yvonne Langford, who served as an Executive Administrator for the Griffin-Spalding Hospital Authority for almost 40 years. Langford has been active in many community activities and is the owner of Georgia Business Services.
Once awarded, scholarship funds are divided between educational expenses, with $250 applied to tuition and $250 applied to textbook and toolbox expenses. The scholarship recognizes Langford’s longstanding commitment to the Griffin-Spalding community while helping an SCTC student pursue higher education.
For Fall 2026, Yarimar Pagan Salgado, Henry County, received the $500 Yvonne Langford Medical Scholarship. Pagan Salgado is pursuing an Associate of Science in General Studies.
Trevor Alexander Memorial Tuition Scholarship
The Trevor Alexander Memorial Tuition Scholarship honors the memory of Trevor Alexander while providing tuition assistance to an SCTC student. Through the scholarship, his legacy continues by helping students pursue education, career advancement, and a brighter future.
For Fall 2026, Eleanor Adcock, Pike County, received a $250 scholarship. Adcock is pursuing a Health Care Management degree.

“These scholarships are a direct reflection of the generosity of the communities we serve,” said Montrese Adger Fuller, Vice President of Institutional Advancement at Southern Crescent Technical College. “Behind every scholarship is a donor who believes in education and a student who is working hard to build a better future. We are grateful to our donors for helping us remove financial barriers and giving our students additional resources to succeed.”
Scholarship support through the SCTC Foundation allows students to focus more fully on their education while reducing some of the financial pressures associated with attending college. Whether providing assistance with tuition, textbooks, tools, or other educational needs, each scholarship represents an investment in a student and the future workforce of the region.
The SCTC Foundation works throughout the year to raise private support for student scholarships, academic programs, equipment, emergency assistance, and other initiatives that enhance the educational experience and promote student success.
