Southern Crescent Technical College Foundation is proud to announce a generous $25,000 grant from Georgia Power in support of the STEM through Agricultural Education Entrepreneurship Academy. The check presentation was made by Jeneen Andrews, Area Manager – External Affairs West, reinforcing Georgia Power’s commitment to workforce development and educational excellence.
The funds will be used for the STEM through rural Agricultural Education Entrepreneurship Academy. In the summer of 2025, high school students from Butts County, Pike County, Upson County, and Lamar County will participate in a week-long camp at SCTC’s Flint River campus. The summer academy is designed to introduce participants to STEM careers through technical education and entrepreneurship.
This immersive program will provide hands-on training, industry visits, and business development workshops, equipping students with essential skills in sustainable farming, agricultural engineering, and biotechnology. The program also ensures accessibility by providing financial stipends to participants, removing economic barriers to engagement.
“This generous donation from Georgia Power will directly support students by providing them with hands-on learning experiences and real-world exposure to agricultural innovation,” said Dr. Irvin Clark, President at Southern Crescent Technical College. “Investments like this are essential in preparing the next generation for careers in agriculture, STEM, and entrepreneurship.”
The grant will help fund program costs, including instructional materials, industry visits, and professional development for staff. By equipping students with agricultural knowledge and entrepreneurial skills, the program aligns with Georgia’s broader economic development efforts and strengthens the pipeline of future industry leaders.
