GRIFFIN, Ga. — Southern Crescent Technical College (SCTC) is accepting applications for the Dundee Community Association Rural Nurse Education Faculty Fellowship in Teaching, Learning, and Workforce Development, an innovative initiative designed to prepare experienced registered nurses to become the next generation of nurse educators while helping address the critical shortage of nursing faculty across Georgia.
The three-year fellowship will provide selected nurses with the opportunity to serve as full-time faculty members in SCTC’s Practical Nursing (LPN) and Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) programs while completing a Master’s Degree with a concentration in Nursing Education. Four fellowship positions are available and will support instruction at the Butts County Center in Jackson, Flint River Campus in Thomaston, Jasper County Center in Monticello, and Griffin Campus in Spalding County, expanding nursing education opportunities and strengthening the healthcare workforce across Southern Crescent Technical College’s rural service area.
Made possible through the generous support of the Dundee Community Association, the fellowship reflects Southern Crescent Technical College’s commitment to strengthening the healthcare workforce by investing in experienced nurses who are passionate about teaching and mentoring future healthcare professionals. Through graduate education, structured mentorship, and immersive teaching experiences, the program will develop highly qualified nursing educators while expanding instructional capacity in communities where the demand for nurses continues to grow.
Selected fellows will receive a competitive starting salary of $75,000, along with a $7,500 annual educational stipend to offset tuition and academic expenses and a $2,500 annual professional development stipend to support conference attendance, certifications, instructional innovation, and other faculty development opportunities. Fellows will also receive Southern Crescent Technical College’s comprehensive employee benefits package and will be paired with experienced faculty mentors who will provide ongoing coaching and support throughout the three-year fellowship.
As full-time faculty members, fellows will provide instruction in classroom, laboratory, simulation, and clinical settings while teaching students enrolled in SCTC’s LPN and ASN programs. Additional responsibilities include developing curriculum, evaluating student learning, supporting student success initiatives, participating in accreditation and program assessment activities, and contributing to continuous quality improvement efforts across the college’s nursing programs. “The Dundee Community Association Rural Nurse Education Faculty Fellowship is more than a professional development opportunity. This is an investment in the future of nursing education,” said Dr. Katrina Walker, Assistant Vice President of Nurse Education at Southern Crescent Technical College. “Our fellows will learn alongside experienced faculty mentors, gain valuable classroom and clinical teaching experience, and develop the confidence and skills needed to inspire the next generation of nurses. By growing our educator workforce, we are ensuring that more students have access to high-quality nursing education while helping address the healthcare needs of rural Georgia.”
Applicants must possess a Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) from an accredited institution, hold a current unrestricted Registered Nurse (RN) license, and be admitted to, enrolled in, or eligible for admission to an accredited Master’s Degree program in Nursing Education. Candidates must also have a minimum of three years of full-time professional nursing experience within the past seven years. Preference will be given to individuals with previous teaching, clinical instruction, precepting, workforce training, or leadership experience.
Participants are expected to maintain full-time faculty employment, remain in good academic standing, actively engage in mentoring and professional development activities, and complete a Master of Science in Nursing Education within the three-year appointment. Educational funding will continue throughout the fellowship period, even if participants complete their graduate degree before the fellowship concludes.

Applications for the Dundee Community Association Rural Nurse Education Faculty Fellowship in Teaching, Learning, and Workforce Development are being accepted through August 7, 2026. Interviews will be conducted during the week of August 24, 2026, and the fellowship will begin October 5, 2026.
