SCTC Launches VEX Robotics Summer Camp to Inspire Future STEM Leaders

Date Posted: May 19, 2026

Monticello, GA — Southern Crescent Technical College is gearing up to spark creativity, innovation, and excitement in middle school students this summer through its upcoming VEX EXP Robotics Summer Camp: Robot Soccer Camp. Designed for students ages 12 and up, the hands-on STEM experience will introduce participants to robotics engineering, teamwork, and strategic problem-solving in an engaging and competitive environment.

The camp will take place June 15–18, 2026, at 112 Industrial Park Drive in Monticello, Georgia, and will feature interactive activities where students will build robots, engineer robotic claws, and compete in robot soccer challenges. Camp participants will learn how to design, test, modify, and strategize while working collaboratively with peers in a high-energy environment focused on innovation and discovery.

“This camp is about much more than robots,” said Dr. Irvin T. Clark, President of Southern Crescent Technical College. “It is about exposing students to the exciting possibilities within STEM and advanced manufacturing careers while building confidence, creativity, and teamwork skills at an early age. We are grateful to our sponsors for investing in the future workforce of our communities.”

The VEX Robotics Summer Camp is proudly sponsored by Procter & Gamble (P&G), Amazon, and Southern Crescent Technical College, organizations committed to strengthening educational opportunities and expanding access to STEM learning experiences for students across the region.

Throughout the four-day camp, students will gain practical experience in coding concepts, robot mechanics, game strategy, and engineering design while competing to score goals in a robot soccer competition. The experience is intentionally designed to encourage curiosity and inspire students to explore future educational and career pathways in robotics, automation, engineering, and technology.

“This is an incredible opportunity for students to see STEM come to life in a fun and meaningful way,” said Eleen Herbert, Dean of Technical, Industrial, and Film Technologies at SCTC. “Students will not only learn technical skills, but they will also develop communication, collaboration, and critical thinking skills that are essential for future success.”

Southern Crescent Technical College continues to expand STEM outreach opportunities throughout its service area, helping students discover pathways into high-demand careers while strengthening the future workforce pipeline for Georgia industries.
