Southern Crescent Technical College President Dr. Irvin Clark has announced that Richard Andrews will serve as the new Vice President for Economic Development.
Richard brings a deep commitment to workforce innovation, community advancement, and economic development to his role as Vice President of Economic Development at Southern Crescent Technical College. With over seven years of experience in Georgia’s technical college system, Richard’s background spans manufacturing training, apprenticeship development, and industry engagement.
“I am excited to announce that Richard Andrews will be leading the College’s Economic Development efforts. With a proven track record of cultivating strong community partnerships and a reputation for delivering results, Mr. Andrews brings invaluable experience to the role. His extensive background within the TCSG system will further strengthen our relationships across the region, enabling us to better meet the evolving needs of our industry partners,” SCTC President Dr. Irvin Clark stated.
In his previous role as Executive Director of Advanced Manufacturing Partnerships at Georgia Piedmont Technical College, Richard oversaw high-performing workforce training initiatives and grant-funded programs that supported both student advancement and employer success. His leadership helped solidify the college’s role as a regional hub for Industry 4.0 technologies and technical training excellence.
Beyond program management, Richard is deeply involved in talent development through SkillsUSA, where he has coached student teams to multiple state and national championships in Mechatronics, robotics, and emerging technologies. He also served as principal investigator on federally funded training programs and supported technical curriculum design and industry credential integration.
A graduate of Georgia State University and a proud alumnus of the Technical College System of Georgia, Richard holds extensive certifications in PLCs, robotics, motor controls, hydraulics, and mechatronic systems. His goal is to position Southern Crescent Technical College as a driver of economic prosperity and workforce resilience for the region.
