The Technical College System of Georgia (TCSG), Apprentice Georgia, and Southern Crescent Technical College (SCTC) have partnered with local public and private organizations to secure grant funding for several apprentices through the Public Service Apprenticeship Program (PSAP).  Spalding County Board of Commissioners has partnered with SCTC and been awarded 3 apprentice positions to launch or enhance U.S. Department of Labor (USDOL) registered apprenticeship programs. This grant will help provide essential education and training for careers in high-demand industries, ensuring a stronger, more skilled workforce for the region.

Dr. Irvin Clark, SCTC President, worked diligently with Apprentice Georgia and TCSG on this project, “This is a wonderful initiative that is not only helping local communities but also fostering strong partnerships between public and private organizations. It’s exciting to see the collaborative effort between the TCSG, Apprentice Georgia, and local employers to create these apprenticeship opportunities.”

PSAP also offers contract awards per apprentice to public service employers at the state, city, and local levels, promoting the establishment and expansion of registered apprenticeship programs across Georgia.

Spalding County has been selected by TCSG for apprentice positions with the Spalding County Board of Commissioners.  County Manager Dr. Steve Ledbetter said it is the first time TCSG has offered internships where the county was able to join the program. “We are deeply honored that Spalding County has been selected for the Public Safety Apprenticeship Program in collaboration with Southern Crescent Technical College. This initiative exemplifies our unwavering commitment to community development and the creation of meaningful opportunities for our residents. The exceptional contributions of Southern Crescent Technical College in supporting our community are highly commendable, and we anticipate significant positive outcomes through this public safety program.”

Spalding County Board of Commissioners Chairman Clay Davis had this to say about the program, “We are thrilled to announce that two of our dedicated firefighters have been selected as recipients of the Public Safety Apprenticeship Program. This opportunity will allow them to participate in the EMT Certification Program, further enhancing their skills and our community’s safety. We extend our heartfelt thanks to Southern Crescent Technical College, Dr. Irvin Clark, and his team for their invaluable support in making this program possible.”
