GRIFFIN, GA – Southern Crescent Technical College (SCTC) is proud to announce the appointment of Joshua Thomas to the Southern Crescent Technical College Board of Directors. Thomas currently serves as Vice President and Commercial Lender with United Bank in Jackson, Georgia, bringing nearly a decade of financial and commercial lending experience, along with prior service as Director of Finance for the Butts County Board of Education.  His commitment to community service is demonstrated through his leadership with the Butts County Chamber of Commerce, where he previously served as Board Chair.

“I am excited and grateful for the opportunity to serve on the Southern Crescent Technical College Board of Directors,” said Thomas. “I look forward to working with the team to support our communities and advance the college’s mission of strengthening workforce and economic development throughout the region.”

SCTC President Dr. Irvin Clark welcomed Thomas to the Board, stating, “Josh brings strong financial expertise, community leadership, and a deep understanding of our regional economy. His experience in banking and public education will be a tremendous asset as we continue expanding programs, strengthening industry partnerships, and serving students across our eight-county service area.”

The Southern Crescent Technical College Board of Directors serves both in a community advisory capacity and in a limited administrative capacity, performing certain oversight responsibilities as designated by State Board policy. The local Board is comprised of members from the business and industrial communities across Butts, Fayette, Henry, Jasper, Lamar, Pike, Spalding, and Upson counties. Board members are selected because of their experience, ability, and dedication to issues related to occupational education and must be free of contractual, employment, or personal financial investment in the college.

Southern Crescent Technical College continues to strengthen workforce and economic development throughout the region by preparing students for in-demand careers and partnering closely with local industry and community leaders.
