Southern Crescent Technical College Announces Winners of Childcare Business & Entrepreneurship Lab Pitch Competition

MCDONOUGH, GA — Southern Crescent Technical College proudly announces Tashoy Brooks as the 1st place winner of the Childcare Business and Entrepreneurship Lab Pitch Competition held Monday evening. Brooks delivered a well-organized, cohesive, and highly compelling business pitch that showcased her clear vision, preparation, and passion for serving families in the community.  She was awarded $3,500 in startup funding to support the launch of her childcare business and will also receive a one-year membership to the local Chamber of Commerce to help expand her business network.

Alexis Elliott earned 2nd place, delivering an impressive pitch that demonstrated innovation, preparation, and a strong commitment to advancing her childcare business goals. Alexis was awarded $1,500 in startup funding to support the launch of her childcare business.

From August through November, participants in the Child Care Business and Entrepreneurship Lab met weekly to strengthen their business plans, sharpen their entrepreneurial skills, and gain essential Early Childhood Care and Education knowledge.

Following her win, Tashoy Brooks shared her gratitude, stating:
“I would like to thank Dr. Clark for the opportunity that he has presented us with to start our own small businesses. It has been a wonderful few weeks.”

The Child Care Business and Entrepreneurship Lab is an innovative program designed to support both aspiring and current childcare professionals. The program features two tailored cohorts that meet participants at different stages of their entrepreneurial journey.

Southern Crescent Technical College extends its appreciation to the three judges who generously volunteered their time and expertise to evaluate student pitches and select this year’s winners.
