Dr. Irvin Clark, President of Southern Crescent Technical College (SCTC), is pleased to announce that Mr. Stone Workman has been elected to serve as Chairman of the SCTC Board of Directors, effective July 1, 2025. Mr. Workman succeeds Ms. Rebecca Hadley-Catter who recently completed her term as Chairwoman.
Mr. Workman has served on the Board since 2018, representing Jasper County. Stone began his career as a Flight Attendant for Delta Air Lines before transitioning in his career to government roles. A dedicated public servant and experienced leader, Mr. Workman brings a distinguished background in both federal and local government. He previously served as State Director of USDA Rural Development during the George W. Bush administration and as District Director for U.S. Congressman Austin Scott. After retiring from Delta Air Lines and the federal government, Mr. Workman was an adjunct faculty member at Georgia College and State University teaching in the Masters of Public Administration program.
In addition to his federal service, Mr. Workman has been an active leader in his local community, having served as a Monticello City Councilman and as Mayor Pro Tem. His commitment to public service and regional development makes him uniquely qualified to lead the SCTC Board during this time of continued growth and progress. Since Stone has served on the Board of Directors, enrollment has increased more than 96% from fiscal year 2018 to fiscal year 2024.
“I am proud to serve as the next Chair of the Southern Crescent Technical College Board of Directors,” said Mr. Workman. “Leading and helping my community and Southern Crescent Technical College continue to achieve phenomenal growth is an honor.”
Southern Crescent Technical College congratulates Mr. Workman on this appointment and looks forward to his leadership in advancing the College’s mission of workforce development and educational excellence across the region.
