SCTC’s QEP – FYE of the Tiger

SCTC’s Quality Enhancement Plan (QEP) titled “FYE of the Tiger” will take a systematic approach to transforming the first year experience for contemporary students through an innovative online module-based learning approach. This approach will enhance students’ understanding of career opportunities and cultivate job-related skills throughout students’ time at SCTC while also working to increase student retention and persistence rates.

What is a Quality Enhancement Plan (QEP)?

  • The QEP is one part of the reaffirmation process leading to SCTC’s continued accreditation with the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges (SACSCOC).
  • The QEP is a five-year, college-wide plan devoted to the improvement of student success.

How does the QEP impact faculty and students at SCTC?

SCTC faculty will utilize FYE modules to introduce new students to the college community, foster a sense of belonging for new students, teach career planning and workforce skills, and acquaint students with support services and student activities and clubs. SCTC students will gain a better understanding of college resources and what it takes to be successful in their careers and in life.

How will the QEP impact the college and industry partners?

By developing more engaged students with better study and workforce ready skills, the College will see increases in persistence and retention. SCTC business and industry partners may contribute to modules, when appropriate, and will benefit from SCTC graduates with enhanced workforce skills.

Moving forward

Modules will be developed and refined based on broad stakeholder input to include students, faculty, staff, and industry partners.
