Foundation Scholarships

The Southern Crescent Technical College Foundation, Inc. offers scholarship opportunities to students. Scholarship funds are NOT paid directly to the student. Please read all application materials carefully–some restrictions apply. Foundation scholarships are reviewed by a panel of faculty/staff and awarded to a currently enrolled part-time or full-time SCTC student. Student must be a Georgia resident, in good academic standing with a cumulative GPA of 2.50 or higher in a certificate, diploma or degree program. All applications require uploading and attaching a current Federal Tax Return with all social security and bank numbers redacted plus a 250-word essay explaining how receiving the scholarship will help you attain your educational plans and career goals. Some scholarships require an attached list of course-required textbook and/or tool (supply list) and cost estimate. Applications for SPRING SEMESTER 2017 will be accepted online from September 26 to October 27, 2016 and results will be announced in a personal email to applicant in December 2016.  –  Applications For Spring semester are closed. Applications for FOUNDATION SCHOLARSHIPS for SUMMER SEMESTER 2017 will be accepted online from February 23 to March 23, 2017 and results will be announced in a personal email to applicant in mid April 2017.

Scholarships Currently Taking Applications:

Coweta-Fayette EMC Foundation Scholarship is a $1,000 tuition, textbook and toolbox need-based scholarship awarded to a currently enrolled part-time or full-time Southern Crescent Technical College student in good academic standing with a 2.0 cumulative GPA or higher in a SCTC certificate, diploma, or degree program. Recipients must reside within Coweta-Fayette EMC’s service area, but do not have to receive the service, including the following counties: Coweta, Fayette, South Fulton, Heard, Meriwether, Spalding, Troup, and Clayton. Must complete Coweta-Fayette Trust Southern Crescent Technical College General Scholarship Application. Active community service is recommended but not required. Three faculty/staff letters of recommendation are required (Note- this is a different process from SCTC Foundation Scholarship staff requests) and all applications allow for uploading and attaching the required latest Federal tax return (with all Social Security and bank numbers marked out). Deadline February 1, 2017. Results will be announced in a personal email to the student applicant in April 2017, and funds from this scholarship are good for one academic year.

Available Foundation Scholarships:

GED/Advancement-to-College Textbook Scholarship is a $250 textbook scholarship awarded to a recent Southern Crescent Technical College GED graduate (completed within the last 12 months) who scored over 580 on the GED test and who has enrolled in Southern Crescent Technical College. List of textbooks with cost estimate required with application.
 
High School-to-College Textbook Scholarship is a $300 textbook scholarship awarded to a recent high school graduate (graduated within the last 24 months) who is enrolled at Southern Crescent Technical College. List of textbooks with cost estimate required with application.
 

General Foundation Scholarships:

Bill Walden Memorial Textbook Scholarship is a $300 textbook scholarship. Established in memory of former SCTC Business Management instructor Bill Walden for his commitment and contributions to the College. List of textbooks with cost estimate required with application.
 
John Bradley Memorial Toolbox Scholarship is a $250 toolbox scholarship for the purchase of program-required tools, uniforms, equipment, and/or supplies. Established in memory of John Bradley, former Automotive Collision and Repair instructor at the College, who died of cancer in 2006. List of tools/supplies with cost estimate required with application.
 
Trevor Alexander Memorial Tuition Scholarship is a $250 tuition and fees scholarship to a student who is eligible for the HOPE Grant/Scholarship but is NOT eligible for The PELL Grant. Established in memory of Trevor Alexander, an Assessment Specialist at the College, who died of cancer in August 2013.
 
Tuition Scholarship is a $900 tuition scholarship to a student who is NOT eligible for the HOPE Grant/Scholarship, WIOA and/or The PELL Grant. Applicants for this scholarship may also include those who have capped-out on HOPE financial aid.
 
Upson EMC Foundation Tuition, Textbook & Toolbox Scholarship is a $250 tuition, textbook and toolbox scholarship. Student must be a Georgia resident and must live in one of the six counties Upson EMC serves: Crawford, Pike, Meriwether, Talbot, Taylor and Upson.
 

Program Specific Foundation Scholarships:

Cooper Family Culinary Arts Tuition, Textbook & Toolbox Scholarship is a $250 tuition, textbook and toolbox scholarship in the Culinary Arts program.
 
Frank Jolly Memorial Business Management Scholarship is a $250 tuition and textbook scholarship to a student in a Business Management program. Established in memory of Victor Franklin Jolly, who retired after 41 years as a prominent banker and community leader. He served as president and Chief Executive Officer of Commercial Bank and Trust Company from 1974 until his retirement in 1991. This scholarship is provided through the generous donations of Mr. Jolly’s daughter, Nan Jolly Moore and her husband, Len Moore, both former employees of Griffin Technical College/Southern Crescent Technical College. Mr. Jolly passed away April 2011.
 
Jack Cunningham Memorial Carpentry Scholarship is a $250 toolbox scholarship awarded to a student enrolled in the Carpentry or Construction Management program. Established in memory of Jack Cunningham by his wife, Pat, who taught at Griffin Technical College. The scholarship commemorates Jack Cunningham’s love of carpentry. List of tools/supplies with cost estimate required with application.
 
Lespedeza Fund Scholarship, honoring the memory of Mr. and Mrs. Russell Allen and Mr. and Mrs. Frank Johnson, is a $1,000 tuition, textbook and toolbox need-based scholarship awarded to a first-generation student* currently enrolled part-time or full-time at Southern Crescent Technical College in in the following programs: Allied Health, Business Technology, Criminal Justice, Industrial Systems Technology and Logistics and Supply Chain Management. Student must be in good academic standing with a 2.5 cumulative GPA or higher in a SCTC diploma or degree program. Names of two faculty members for recommendations are required. All applications allow for uploading and attaching the required latest Federal tax return (with all Social Security and bank numbers marked out) along with a 250-word essay explaining how receiving the scholarship will help the student attain his or her educational plans and career goals. The Lespedeza Fund Scholarship is limited to being awarded twice to an individual student. After a student has been awarded this scholarship a second time, they are no longer eligible to apply for or receive funds from this scholarship. *Note: A first-generation college student is defined as a student whose parent(s)/legal guardian(s) have not completed a degree or any education beyond high school. This means that you are the first in your family to attend college to attain a certificate, diploma or degree.
 
SCTC Culinary Arts Advisory Committee Tuition, Textbook & Toolbox Scholarship is a $250 tuition, textbook and toolbox scholarship awarded to student in the Culinary Arts program.
