CALVIN SINKFIELDHead Men’s Basketball Coach/Athletic Coordinator – Southern Crescent Technical College Started his coaching career in December of 1994 at Georgia Southern University in Statesboro, Ga as an assistant coach under Dough Durham . His duties were to organize, produce, and distribute game film as evaluation tools to the staff for game plan. He also served as a player development specialist for all players on the team in his second stint at GSU in 1999. Coach Sinkfield’s other coaching stints have been at Odessa College (Tx) under NJCAA Hall of Fame Coach Dennis Helms from 1995-1999 where he also starred as a player in the 1989-1990 NJCAA Tournament as the second leading rebounder and was named Mr. Odessa College in 1991, Jacksonville University (1999-2000) under the Legendary former UGA Head Coach Hugh Durham, and three different high schools (Spalding, Sandy Creek, Griffin) in Georgia. During his tenure (2010-present) at Southern Crescent he has had to manage all aspects of the athletic program from recruiting, discipline, and administrative compliance for the entire program. Sinkfield has served as the Head Women’s Coach for two seasons and since then as the men’s and won the 2015 & 2018 Region Champions, 2015 District Runner-Up and was voted 2015 & 2018 GCAA/NJCAA Region Coach 17 of the Year. He has had multiple players voted All-Region and three with POY honors and GCAA/NJCAA All-Americans who moved on to 4 year colleges and universities. Sinkfield played at Griffin High School from 1985-89 under James Martin where he was a starting small forward on the first State Championship team in the history of the Griffin, Ga. He received a McDonalds All American Nomination and went on to Odessa College to play against some of the best talent in the country at Odessa College. There he was a Western Junior College Athletic Conference (WJCAA/Region 5) standout and was selected as a starter of the prestigious NJCAA sanctioned Texas/USA All Star game. Sinkfield transferred to Georgia Southern University on a team that was 25-6 and earned the Southeast 15th seed to the 1992 NCAA tournament where he earned MVP Chevrolet Player of the game honors for outstanding performance vs Oklahoma State. He is the father of 6 beautiful children; Kelvin (deceased), Saij’heed (28), Caliyah(20), Kani (17), Koi (9), and Indigo (5) that he LOVES DEARLY. |

JAMES WALDONHead Women’s Basketball Coach – Southern Crescent Technical College Started his coaching career as an assistant coach at Lake City Community College (Lake City Florida) in 1982 where he motivated, recruited and encouraged student athletes to pursue their goals. Those same skill sets were displayed at Edward Waters College, Southern Polytechnic College, Earl Paulk Institute, and the Atlanta Trojans of the United States Basketball League (USBL). Waldon had an amazing 17 year career building an elite program as the Head Women’s Basketball Coach at Georgia Perimeter College in Decatur, Ga. While at GPC he recruited high level student-athletes that participated in the NJCAA tournament and established the institution as a powerhouse of the GCAA Region 17. Over 50 of these student athletes (5 NJCAA All Americans) went on to 4 year colleges and universities to complete their careers and studies.
During his tenure at Georgia Perimeter he led them to seven GCAA/NJCAA Region XVII Championships from 2001, 2005, 2006, 2007, 2008, 2011, 2012, six NJCAA National Championship Appearances 2005, 2006, 2007, 2008, 2011, 2012 and 5 time GCAA Region XVII NJCAA Coach of the Year. It was during this stretch he compiled eight 20 win seasons from 1998-2015, selected as a Trials Court Coach for USA Basketball 2006, coached eleven players to the NBA from the Atlanta Trojans of the United States Basketball League (USBL)
