The Southern Crescent Technical College Foundation awarded 81 scholarships totaling $35,450 for students enrolled in the College for Summer 2024 semester.
Of those, the Foundation awarded 57 Internal Tiger Campaign scholarships totaling $22,050. Internal scholarships are funded through contributions from the SCTC faculty and staff primarily through monthly payroll deductions to the Internal Fundraising Campaign. In addition, the Foundation awarded 24 external scholarships totaling $13,400. External scholarships are funded through contributions from business partners, foundations and generous donors within our service community, as well as SCTC faculty and staff for program-specific scholarships not included in the Internal Tiger Campaign.
Scholarship applications for Fall Semester 2024 will be available online from April 1 – April 30, 2024 at https://www.sctech.edu/foundation/foundation-scholarships/.
The Tiger Campaign GED/Advancement-to-College Textbook and Toolbox Scholarship is a $250 textbook & toolbox scholarship awarded to a recent Southern Crescent Technical College GED graduate (completed within the last 24 months) who is enrolled at Southern Crescent Technical College. The scholarship is for the purchase of program-required textbooks, tools, uniforms, equipment, and/or supplies. The Foundation awarded one $250 scholarship for Summer 2024 semester to:

The Tiger Campaign Top KATS (in memory of Kathy Pitts) Tuition Scholarship is a $900 tuition scholarship for a student who is not eligible for the HOPE Grant/Scholarship, WIOA and/or the Pell Grant and/or any other financial aid. The Tiger Campaign Top KATS (in memory of Kathy Pitts) Tuition Scholarship is named in honor of the winning team for the Internal Tiger Campaign for Southern Crescent Technical College. The Foundation awarded twelve $900 scholarships for a total of $10,800. The students receiving scholarships for Summer 2024 semester are:

The Becky Parris Rector Nursing Scholarship is a $300 tuition scholarship for a Nursing student that is a single parent. Becky Parris Rector earned her ADN from a technical college while raising two children under the age of six. She sacrificed so much to stay in school while caring for her children and working part-time to make ends meet. The Lespedeza Fund Scholarship, honoring the memory of Mr. and Mrs. Russell Allen and Mr. and Mrs. Frank Johnson, is a $1,000Â tuition, textbook & toolbox need-based scholarship awarded to a first-generation student (defined as a student whose parent(s)/legal guardian(s) have not completed a degree or any education beyond high school, and are the first in their family to attend college to attain a certificate, diploma or degree)Â enrolled in one of the following programs:Â Allied Health, Business Technology, Criminal Justice, Industrial Systems Technology, and Logistics and Supply Chain Management. The MAACA / Tim Derrick Memorial Textbook and Toolbox Scholarship is a $250 scholarship awarded to a student in an Air-Conditioning Technology program. Established in memory of Tim Derrick, Chief HVAC inspector for the City of Atlanta, HVAC contractor, and HVAC instructor, who died of brain cancer in 2005, and was a longtime member of the Metropolitan Atlanta Air-Conditioning Contractors Association (MAACA). The Foundation awarded one $250 scholarship for Summer 2024 Semester to:

The Rotary Club of Peachtree City Scholarship is a $250 textbook & toolbox scholarship for the purchase of program-related required textbooks & tools, uniforms, equipment, licensure examinations, and/or supplies for a student who lives in Fayette County and is enrolled in a certificate, diploma, or degree program. The applicant must be a resident of Fayette County, have a cumulative GPA of 2.5 or higher, and be in good academic standing. The Foundation awarded three $250 scholarships for a total of $750. The Schyla Avery Memorial Textbook & Toolbox Scholarship is a $250 scholarship awarded for students pursuing a degree in Respiratory Care. This scholarship was established in memory of Schyla Nicole Avery, who received an AAS degree in Respiratory Care from the College, and died in a tragic house fire in 2011.
