SCTC Welcomes Tarrant and Williams to Board of Directors

Date Posted: December 15, 2021

Southern Crescent Technical College President Dr. Alvetta Thomas is pleased to announce the recent appointment of Jeff Tarrant and Chris Williams as members of the College’s board of directors. Both Tarrant and Williams were sworn in by Spalding County Probate Judge Jan Hunt at the November 17th meeting.

“I am pleased to welcome these two outstanding individuals to our Southern Crescent Technical College board of directors,” Dr. Thomas stated.   “With a strong understanding of the workforce and community needs of this region, I’m certain their experience and knowledge will be invaluable as we move forward in executing our vision for the college,” Dr. Thomas concluded.

The Southern Crescent Technical College Board of Directors serves both in a community advisory capacity and in a limited administrative capacity, performing certain oversight responsibilities as designated by State Board policy. The local Board is currently comprised of 13 members from the business and industrial communities from eight counties in the service area comprised of Butts, Fayette, Henry, Jasper, Lamar, Pike, Spalding, and Upson counties. State Board Policy defines the role and responsibilities of the local Board. Board members are selected because of their experience, ability, and dedication to deal with issues that relate to the mission of occupational education and are without contractual, employment, or personal financial investment in the school.

“It is indeed an honor and a privilege to have been chosen to serve on the Board of Directors of Southern Crescent Technical College,” Tarrant said.  “I have seen first-hand the impact that Southern Crescent Technical College makes on the citizens and communities it serves and I’m excited about the opportunity to work with the other board members as SCTC continues to provide quality educational opportunities for its students,” he stated.

Tarrant currently serves as the CEO of Upson Regional Medical Center in Thomaston and will represent Upson County on the board. Representing Henry County on the board, Williams is an Area Manager for Georgia Power Company.
