Financial Aid

Office of Financial Aid

Providing financial assistance to eligible students.

Note About Financial Aid: All students who are interested in receiving Federal (Pell Grant), State (Hope Funding), and SCTC Scholarships must complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) form online at www.studentaid.gov.

The Southern Crescent Technical College Financial Aid staff is committed to providing exceptional services and assist students in financing their college education. Our staff will assist you in every step of the financial aid process and in making your education as affordable as possible.

First Steps

The first step in applying for financial aid is to complete the FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid), which uses information about you and your family's financial situation to determine eligibility.

You must complete the FAFSA as soon as possible after October 1 of the year you are requesting aid. A new FAFSA must be completed every year to be considered for eligibility. SCTC school code is 005621, visit www.studentaid.gov

Not all Certificate Programs qualify for federal funds (this includes student loans). Contact the Financial Aid Office for information.

Financial Aid Priority Documentation Deadlines
  • Fall Semester: July 1st
  • Spring Semester: November 1st
  • Summer Semester: April 1st

What happens if you miss a priority deadline?

If you apply after the priority deadline, you can still receive eligible financial aid, the SCTC financial aid office may not have adequate time to process your aid for payment deadline purposes. In this case, you be required to pay out pocket to meet the payment deadline or risk losing your scheduled classes. If you pay out of pocket and it is later determined you are eligible for aid, you will receive a financial aid refund for the term.
